I want to give my deck a new look. What lasts longer on a deck stain or paint?

There is no easy answer to this question, as both stain and paint have their own benefits and drawbacks. In general, however, paint tends to last longer than stain. This is because paint forms a protective barrier on the surface of the deck, while stain penetrates the wood and therefore leaves it more vulnerable to moisture and weathering. However, it is important to note that both stain and paint require regular maintenance in order to keep them looking their best. So whichever option you decide to go with, be sure to set aside time for periodic upkeep!

Deck stain will generally last longer than paint, but both should be reapplied every few years to maintain their appearance and protect the wood.
